Charlotte Watson Financial Planning

Session: Bridging the talent gap: Fresh perspectives on entering the profession
Time:
1:50 PM – 2:20 PM
Location: Connaught Rooms 3-4

Charlotte transitioned into financial advice during maternity leave and the Covid lockdown, following a decade-long career lecturing in undergraduate Equine Science and postgraduate teacher training. She launched her own financial planning business in January 2022.

Since then, she’s been proud to receive national recognition, including winning FT Adviser Rising Star of the Year 2025, and Highly Commended Wealth Manager of the Year at the Investment Week Women in Investment Awards 2024. She’s also had an article published in FT Adviser examining gender bias when picking an adviser, and has provided expert commentary in The Telegraph and Money Marketing.

Changing career has been the best life decision she has ever made. She harnesses the skills and experience from her lecturing career plus learnings from her MSc in Education. Her mission is to make financial advice more accessible, relatable and empowering—particularly for women, families, and business owners. She is passionate about helping clients feel confident, informed, and in control of their financial futures. Seeing the clouds lift and the lightbulb moments for clients is special and why she does what she does.

She’s a strong advocate for more young women to join the financial advice profession and to inspire more working mums to take the leap into running their own businesses, both within and outside of finance.

Charlotte uses social media (Instagram in particular) creatively to connect with those who may never have considered advice before: breaking down jargon and stereotypical barriers in a human, fun and inclusive way. Operating remotely allows her to work with clients across the UK, offering a flexible, modern approach that resonates particularly with younger generations.

She is currently growing her family alongside growing her business, with a baby girl expected late summer. Charlotte is absolutely honoured to have been asked to join the panel at the PFS Conference 2025.
